Awakening 1953 – Episode 2

Raising Taxes is Not the Answer

Recently two people I know and admire told me that we need to pay more taxes to solve our country’s economic problems. One of these people was a business contact; the other was a close relative. Both are about my age, and pretty conservative. These conversations led me to consider how many people believe this.

Raising taxes will only hurt us. Our freedom is closely tied to our money, and the more we are taxed, the less freedom we have.

The answer to our economic problem is to cut spending. We need to withdraw from the two illegal and immoral wars we are currently mired in; and to withdraw from the new war we have started in Pakistan.

We need to close our military bases abroad. We have, by many accounts, over 700 permanent bases in foreign countries. No other country is doing this. What happened to those sixties liberals who said we couldn’t be the world’s policeman? Imagine the resentment that is building up against us in these foreign places.

We need to bring all our young military people home, and use our military budget to give them academic and vocational training. They can help us rebuild our manufacturing base.

The military/industrial complex is bleeding us dry and destroying the middle class. This is being done by design. Our freedom is being diminished.

Our government spends about 4 trillion dollars a year — two trillion of that on the military. That same two trillion is borrowed from foreign countries, most notably, China.

Stop the wars. Bring our countrymen home, and retrain them to rebuild our manufacturing base. Cut spending by half, cut taxes. Restore freedom.

Please stay tuned for my new war protest poster.

What Woke Me Up?

Awakening1953 episode 1

What Woke Me Up?

Hello. Welcome to episode 1 of Awakening1953.

Today I explain how a baby boomer democrat became a 911 Truther.

I was born and raised a Democrat. After I graduated college and made some decent money, I started voting Republican. As my wise Grandmother Nora observed, after I made a few bucks, I changed parties.

But after seeing Bush junior, with both houses of congress, grow government and debt, and make war, I stopped voting. I had little in common with them.

When 9/11 happened, I began to wake up. I was troubled by it. The idea that we were attacked because of our freedom rang hollow, even though I found myself saying and thinking it.

Years passed, and I still didn’t vote. Rush, Hannity, Beck and others sounded to me like mere shills for the Republican party. Michael Savage I found very interesting.

My math students in junior high school introduced me to multimedia applications, and, in particular, to YouTube. This had much to do with my awakening.

I explored economics – shades of what my Grandmother said to me. Forty percent of my pay was taken by the government. I explored this.

I discovered an economist and businessman named Peter Schiff. After him, Gerald Celente and Max Keiser. And this led me to the Genesis Communication Network, Alex Jones, and the Republic Broadcasting Network. By this time, I had turned off my television – that was three years ago – and depended entirely on the internet for news and current events.

I explored the internet and found open source media outlets like the Corbett Report and Media Monarchy. I discovered facts that to this day awaken me.

If you still believe that turbaned men in caves bombed us on 9/11, please check these facts out for yourself. These three facts, more than anything else, woke me up.

1) Look at Building 7 on 9/11. No plane hit it, and it collapsed into its own footprint. This was a controlled demolition.

2) Look at the jet liner that flew into the pentagon. It was supposedly completely vaporized: no tail piece was left, no engines, no bodies; nothing but a passport that somehow flew out of a victim’s body.

3) On 9/12, Bin Laudin’s family members were flown out of New York City, while  other passenger airliners were grounded.

I hope you will visit my site again. I will blog again soon, and I will begin a series of anti-war art poster videos.

Love and Peace,
